Looking Back and Looking Forward
On May 6, 1986, Dr. Stiles opened River City
Dental Care® at 228 South Clinton St., in downtown Iowa
City, (where Starbucks is located today). He offered extended
evening and weekend hours, to meet the needs of many residents
in our community. This proved to be a very popular concept,
and over the next decade, the practice grew at a phenomenal
rate. Needing more room for patients, staff, and equipment
(not to mention parking), Dr. Stiles moved the office in
1996 to 817 Pepperwood Lane. His dental practice was located
there for four years until once again it outgrew its space.
This time the desire to remain on the "cutting edge" of
dentistry inspired Dr. Stiles to build a new office, one
designed to provide the space and technology that help make
River City Dental Care® a “premier” dental
practice.
River City Dental Care® moved into its current location
at 1950 Lower Muscatine Road in August of 2000. Today,
it houses nine treatment rooms, each equipped with digital
radiography, which provides minimal x-ray exposure to the
patients and exceptional imaging for diagnostics. Each
treatment room also has chair side computers, televisions
and DVD's to provide interactive communication and patient
education. The office is a friendly and comfortable place,
designed to be warm and inviting with its use of wood,
stone, stained glass and natural lighting. There’s
also ample free parking reserved for patients of River
City Dental Care®.
As the practice has continued to grow and change, one
special person has been there from the very beginning,
Registered Dental Assistant, Julie C. of Riverside,
IA. Julie helped Dr. Stiles greet the first patients to
come
to River City Dental Care®, and she has worked along
side him, treating these same patients for the past twenty
years. Throughout all the changes, be it location, staff,
technology and dental treatments, Julie has started each
day at River City Dental Care® with a smile for everyone,
a genuine interest in her co-worker’s and patient’s
well being, and true dedication to her profession.
Looking back on the past twenty years, Dr. Brad Stiles
has a lot to smile about. The relationships he has established
with his patients are ones he treasures and respects. He
has seen patients come in as children for their first dental
visit, and now he provides dental care to their children.
He has mentored young patients and even some of his employees
about pursuing careers in the dental health profession.
During this time, many employees of River City Dental Care® have
been inspired to become hygienists and dentists, such as
Susan W. Susan started at River City Dental Care® 10
years ago as a receptionist, then became a registered dental
assistant, and worked as one while she went on to get her
hygiene degree. She is now a member of our hygiene team.
Dr. Stiles has taught practice management courses to senior
dental students, at the U of I College of Dentistry as
an adjunct faculty member. He has also provided employment
opportunities for many graduates of the College of Dentistry,
as associates in his private practice.
When he started back in 1986, he had a support staff of
three. Today his staff includes three associates, an office
administrator, five hygienists, five receptionists and
numerous dental assistants. Dr. Stiles is proud of his
staff of dedicated and highly-trained dental professionals.
Together they will continue to provide quality dental care
to all his patients for years to come at River City Dental
Care®.
